Wishing I was in Denver...

Right now the National Western Stock Show is going on (in Denver of course).  I tried to get Zac to take me there on an impromptu trip but with no success I am still in good ole Wisconsin.  I have never been to the stock show before but have wanted to go for the longest time now.  Just think of the endless picture opportunities! :)  Having cattle is something that both my husband and I enjoy.  If you know me well, you know that is how Zac and I met.  If you don't know me well...well now you do!  Way back in middle school showing cattle through 4-H I met this boy who wanted nothing to do with me:) Who would have thought that we would later end up happily married. As the saying goes "boys will be boys."  Zac is also how I got into photography.  He won HUGE brownie points by buying me my first big girl camera (dslr) this past Christmas and I have been loving my photography life ever since.  The picture above is one of the very first pictures I took with my big girl camera and it was of our first calf of the calving season in 2010 "Lenny".  I am getting anxious for calving to start again this year.  Calves are the cutest little creatures and oh so much fun to watch you just can't help but laugh at how uncoordinated they are. Check back in March for some calf pictures because I am certain that there will be plenty:)  Oh! and cross your fingers that this time next year I will be in Denver...

Project 52: One Photo a Week

I have a lot of personal goals for myself this year.  One of my main goals is to grow my photography knowledge.  In order to do this and because I know I would never complete a 365 project, I have decided to embark on the journey of posting one photo every week.  I have not set any rules for myself as to categories and all that jazz so I am hoping that my creativity will develop as well.  I am really hoping to focus on exposure this year.  It is important to me to learn how to react to different lighting situations and get my exposure correct in camera instead of adjusting it later in photoshop.  I will admit that this will be a long journey for me but I am excited about it :)  On a side note this blog won't be restricted to just my photo project I am sure there will be plenty of random posts that have nothing to do with my photo project.  This was just my way of starting out in the blog world.

There is something about Winter and how 'bare' everything looks that I love.
